Contractors from Forth Electrical Services (FES) along with staff from Estates Department will be conducting a short "Black Start" test of the backup power systems at the datacentre in James Clerk Maxwell Building (JCMB). This test will involve cutting the mains power feeding the electrical systems at the datacentre to check that the standby systems behave as expected. It is anticipated that this test will last around 5 minutes. During that time, power will be supplied to the datacentre by the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and backup generator. Staff from Estates and FES, along with IS, will be in place to monitor systems and back out from the test in the event of a problem. Planned
